The Big Garden Bird Watch at Sewerby Hall and Gardens offers Feathered Fun for all the Family

The Big Garden Birdwatch, with RSPB Bempton Cliffs, will be taking place at one of the region’s most popular attractions, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, during 9th – 10th, 16th – 17th, 23rd – 24th and 30th – 31st January 2016.

To prepare for the annual event, the specialist team from the cliff top nature reserve will be present at Sewerby Hall and Gardens every weekend in January, providing expert information and various activities for all attendees to get involved.

Mrs P, the RSPB Bempton Cliffs mascot will be dropping by during the BGBW occasion, organising a variety of fun games and activities for the children, so be sure to keep an eye out for her – she especially likes to play 'hide and seek' During the weekend visits, staff and volunteers from Bempton Cliffs will also be helping visitors make apple feeders to take home and giving youngsters the chance to get stuck into range of arts and crafts activities.

All adults attending the event will be have the opportunity to enter into an exciting prize draw, where the winner will be given two bird-feeding kits for their home, to continue the birdwatching interest.

On the final weekend of the BGBW, the RSPB will be undertaking a Big Garden Birdwatch in the estates formal gardens and woodland areas, where visitors will be encouraged to help volunteers view and count the various different species.

The Facility Manager at Sewerby Hall and Gardens is delighted to be working in partnership with the local nature reserve, as part of this family event, she commented: “Working with local partners is always a high on our priorities here at Sewerby Hall and Gardens and these weekends offer a great activity for families to enjoy together in addition to the things the estate offers at this time of year”.

The BGBW event is free to attend, but admission charges to the house still apply – £2.75 for adults, £2.00 for children (three – 15 years old) and £9.00 for a family (two adults and two children). For further information, please visit
