Food, Festivities and Folk Dancing at The Hull Folk Festival

A celebration of music, culture, arts, crafts, dancing, real ales and good food, the Hull Festival will bring you an assortment of the old and the new, from the 12th – 14th September, situated on the Marina in Hull.

Mixing the traditional folk with the new folk, this fun-filled festival has something to offer everyone. This year will see a selection of outdoor stages, free gigs, workshops, a folk wagon, jackanory corner, traditional folk dancing, folk den, singarounds and open mic busking… almost all for free!

Friday night will launch the rip-roaring folk event, with brilliant acts and entertainment for all. Not one, but two acts will kick-start the festival into action; Martin Simpson and The Young ‘Uns will be present to set the tone for the course of the weekend.

By Saturday, you will all be getting into the swing of things! A selection of live acts will be performing on the main stage, intertwined with Morris Dancers, a variety of workshops, a tour of the Folk Heritage display and a showcase of fine art.

Continuing on from the foot-tapping folkiness, Sunday will bring the festival to a close in style! With the main stage closing at 7pm, the festival fun continues in the Jubilee Church for the second ticketed gig of weekend. Joining in with the celebrations will be The New Rope String Band, in addition to a selection of comedic and theatrical performances.
