Tour De Yorkshire Cyclists Get Ready To Set Off From Bridlington

Don't forget about the much anticipated, two-wheeled contest taking to the streets of Bridlington this May! The very first Tour De Yorkshire event will see cyclists gearing up in Bridlington, on the 1st May 2015, in a speedy race to the finish line. The three-day event will encompass three stages, retracing part of the route that was previously used during the spectacular Tour De France Grand Depart in July last year.

Cyclists from all across the world will be adjusting their helmets and warming up ready for the exciting exhibition through the iconic landscapes and cities of Yorkshire. The Tour De Yorkshire will include a women’s event on Saturday 2nd May and also a cultural festival on Sunday 2nd May, which will be televised across UK and Europe screens.

Stage one is set to spin into action on Friday 1st May, hosted by our beautiful seaside town of Bridlington, presenting the start line for cyclists. The racers will finish 174km further along the coast, in Scarborough. The route will take shape from Bridlington, peddling along the Flamborough Head Heritage Coast and onto the North York Moors National Park. Cyclists will then head through the Dalby Forest towards Pickering, followed by a picturesque ride back towards the coast at Whitby, then heading south to Robin Hood’s Bay, which will mark the ultimate battle to the Stage One finish line along the Scarborough seafront.

On Saturday 2nd May, cyclists will take their starting positions at Selby Abbey, to begin the next route route through Market Weighton, North Newbold, Beverley, North Malton and finally on to Stamford Bridge.

The thrid and final Stage Three will begin in Wakefield on Sunday 3rd May and finish in Leeds, with a 167km ultimate contest. Presenting some of the previously raced roads in the 2014 Yorkshire Grand Depart of the Tour of France, with the route travelled in reverse. Travelling south through Barnsley, riders will head towards Holmfirth, Ripponden, the iconic Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge, Oxenhope and through to Haworth.
